Assignment: Students are to review their Science notes on the scientific method, speed, acceleration and Newton's Laws and re-write them in perfect Cornell style. The notes should have a left-hand margin with key-words and questions, a right-hand section with notes and a summary at the bottom of EVERY page. You have several days to work on this assignment!
Scientific Method
Speed
Acceleration
Newton's Laws
Due Date: Honors: 10/8 AVID 10/9
Materials: Science notes, paper, pen or pencil, highlighting is optional but encouraged
Helpful Hints: Work with friends! Spend time with some of your fellow scholars and share notes. This is a great way to talk about Science and make sure everyone has all of the material. If you came into my class later during the year, copy notes from a friend!
Reasoning: I made it through college by using the Notebook Re-Write as a study tool. This will help students perfect their note-taking skills, Cornell skills specifically, which is required a Drew. Also, it will give the students an opportunity to review everything that we have covered so far. Our exam (in 3 weeks) will be comprehensive. It is important that students remember the things that we learned on day one as well as the things they are learning right now.
AVID students will begin being graded on their AVID notebooks. This means that their Cornell notes need to be done correctly. This assignment gives scholars the opportunity to correct and complete their notes, get credit for doing this assignment and improve their notebooks before we do our AVID notebook checks!
HONORS students are required to have Cornell notes. Though Team Michigan does not grade the notebooks collectively, I do notebook checks. In order to get credit for the next NB check I will need to see that all students have Cornell notes.
